Amina Okuyeva is a Chechen woman, a Muslim, social and political activist. As a surgeon during the Maidan as part of the Afghan group helped hundreds of wounded at the front. Today she protects Ukraine again - this time in the Eastern Ukraine, taking part in hostilities as a sniper. She wants to protect Ukraine and to free Chechnya in the future.

I have never been to Belarus, never interacted with the Belarusians, and had quite a general idea of their culture before making this photoshoot. As it often happens, it was originally just an idea, a proposal to do this. I thought - why not? This neighbor was new to me. So the idea developed into a real action.

Ukrainian women were always considered beautiful and hardworking. And they were not inferior to men either in force, nor in courage. If necessary they took weapons and defended their homeland from invaders. No wonder the attitude to such women was respectful for centuries!
